HOW DOES REPAIR.COM WORK? 

1. It starts when your appliance or heating & cooling system wigs out—which always seems to be at the worst possible time. Don’t panic. Just call us at 1-800-REPAIR-NOW.

2. A repair point person will take your call and serve as your advocate. He’ll contact a local repair guy who’ll come to the rescue on your schedule.

3. Your licensed and insured repair guy will arrive on time to give you a free in-home diagnostic and clear & simple pricing based on the amount of time required to fix your product and the cost of parts. You decide then if you want to continue with the repair.

  • If you say “No, thanks,” the repair guy will leave the appliance or heating & cooling system as he found it, and you won’t be charged a thing.

  • If you say “Fix it!” he’ll repair your appliance or heating & cooling system. If the repair guy discovers after he’s started that the repair requires additional or different parts than previously determined, he will inform you of the change in scope and price and get your approval before continuing the repair. You always have the option to discontinue the repair after a price is quoted.

4. Shortly after your repair appointment, your repair point person will call you to confirm that the repair is 100% complete and process your repair payment. Remember, Repair.com offers a 1-year guarantee on the fix, so if your repair fails up to a year after your original appointment, we’ll fix it—free.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BOOK AN APPOINTMENT THROUGH REPAIR.COM?

Booking an appointment through Repair.com is quick and easy. All we need is:

  1. Something to fix.

  2. Name, address and phone number—so we know where to go.

  3. Email address—to send you your appointment info and complimentary gift code.

  5. Credit card number—so we can lock in your appointment time, give you a free in-home diagnostic and a 1-year guarantee on the fix.

HOW SOON CAN A REPAIR GUY COME OUT?

You tell us how soon you want someone to come out. If next day is what you need, then we’ll work with the repair guys to get someone out there the next day. If your refrigerator stops cooling or your heating & cooling system is on the fritz and you need same-day service, we’ll scramble to get a repair guy out there ASAP. If you’re heading out of town or need a few days to work the appointment into your busy schedule, no problem. We’ll do everything we can to find a time that’s most convenient to YOU, not us.

WILL MY REPAIR GUY FIX MY APPLIANCE OR HEATING & COOLING SYSTEM ON THE SAME DAY AS MY FREE IN-HOME DIAGNOSTIC?

That’s our goal! In fact, nearly 80% of our repair jobs are completed during the first visit, and we’re doing everything we can to continue improving that number. If we can’t complete the repair the same day, we’ll do it as quickly as your schedule allows.

To up your odds of getting it fixed in one day, please have your model number handy when you talk to the repair guy. This enables him to narrow down what the possible problem could be and preorder parts if necessary. (Where to find your model number.)

WHAT DOES THE 1-YEAR GUARANTEE COVER EXACTLY?

The 1-year guarantee is to make sure that our fix stays fixed. If we replace a part (for example, an igniter) and that part fails, we’ll replace it again—for free. If we repair a function that’s not working (for example, your dryer isn’t drying) and that same function fails again, we’ll fix it again—for free. If it’s a different part or function, that’s a different story. We’ll be happy to fix it for you separately and give you a 1-year guarantee on that fix as well.

HOW MUCH DOES THE REPAIR COST?

We know that homeowners don’t want to be left in the dark about how much a fix is going to end up costing them or worrying if extra fees and charges are going to be tacked on after the job is completed.

That’s why Repair.com offers a free in-home diagnostic and no-surprises, clear & simple pricing. You will know exactly what the repair will cost (including parts and labor) before you authorize the repair. If you decide not to continue with the repair after your free in-home diagnostic, you will not be charged a thing. How’s that for stress-free?

IS THERE AN EXTRA FEE FOR SAME-DAY SERVICE?

If you have a true emergency—a refrigerator full of food that stops cooling or an air conditioner that goes on the fritz in the middle of summer—we’ll scramble to get a repair guy out there ASAP at no additional charge to you.

If you want after-hours service (weekdays after 4 p.m. and weekends) for your heating & cooling system, a premium rate of time and a half applies.

WHAT IS “CLEAR & SIMPLE PRICING”?

Authorizing a job without knowing how much your repair may end up costing can be stressful. Will there be hidden charges, racked-up hours, and ridiculous parts fees? To combat this, we’re going to tell you up front what the total cost to repair your product will be. That price is based on the cost of parts and the amount of time the repair guy estimates it will take to fix your product. If the repair guy determines that the repair requires additional or different parts than his previous diagnosis, he will stop and provide you the revised quote before continuing the repair. You always have the option to discontinue the repair after a price is quoted.

IS THERE A CHARGE FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC—EVEN IF I DECIDE NOT TO REPAIR MY APPLIANCE OR HEATING & COOLING SYSTEM?

No, the in-home diagnostic is absolutely free! Even if you decide not to continue with the repair or we determine that we cannot fix your appliance or heating & cooling system, you will not be charged a thing.

Note: You probably already know that most service centers charge between $50-$100 just to look at your appliance, even if they don’t fix it! Not Repair.com.

WHAT IF I HAVE MULTIPLE PROBLEMS WITH THE SAME APPLIANCE OR HEATING & COOLING SYSTEM?

Tell your repair point person and repair guy everything that’s going on with your appliance or heating & cooling system so we can come prepared. After your free in-home diagnostic, the repair guy will tell you how much it will cost to repair all the problems. You can decide then which problems you want to go ahead and fix.

I’VE BOUGHT THE PART; I JUST NEED IT INSTALLED. HOW MUCH DO YOU CHARGE FOR THAT?

The part is a critical component of the repair. Unauthorized parts can cause damage to your appliance or heating & cooling system and can also lead to potential safety issues. To ensure the parts we use meet all manufacturer specifications, Repair.com will only install and guarantee parts purchased through our repair guys or our authorized parts distributors.

HOW DO I PAY FOR MY REPAIR?

For now, we only accept major credit and debit cards, including American Express, Visa, Master Card and Discover.

Currently, we cannot accept cash or checks; however, we know you want that option so we’re working on it.

WHY DO YOU NEED MY CREDIT CARD?

We understand that you may be reluctant to provide your credit card number over the phone. We wouldn’t ask if we didn’t have to. The thing is, in order to keep the promises we’re making to you, we need to manage the entire experience, including payment to the repair guys and parts distributors. This enables us to:

  1. Give you a Free In-Home Diagnostic.

  2. Ensure that you don’t pay a cent until the job is 100% complete.

  3. Provide a 1-Year Guarantee on the fix.

For now, the only way we can collect your payment is by credit card. Our repair guys are not equipped to collect third-party payments. Besides, when they do a job for us, we want them to be repair guys 100% of the time, not cashiers.

IF THE DIAGNOSTIC IS FREE, WHY DO YOU NEED MY CREDIT CARD TO BOOK THE APPOINTMENT?

Good question. Yes, the diagnostic is free and you are not obligated to continue with the repair after the diagnostic is completed. However, we still need your credit card when you book the appointment for a few reasons:

  1. Because you are paying Repair.com, not the repair guys, we need to take your payment information directly. This also removes an unnecessary step in the payment process.

  2. In addition to protecting our customers from poor service, we also need to protect our repair guys from flaky customers. Not only does it cost the repair guys money to come to your house, they must also pass up other possible jobs to do yours. Although we won’t charge your card unless you get an appliance repaired, it shows that you are committed to the appointment time.

I’M NOT COMFORTABLE GIVING YOU MY CREDIT CARD OVER THE PHONE.

We understand your concern. All we can do is assure you that we have very robust data security procedures in place to safeguard your credit information.

We are PCI (Payment Card Industry) compliant, which means that we:

  • Encrypt all cardholder data

  • Maintain a secure firewall and update antivirus software regularly

  • Background check all repair point people and tightly restrict access to cardholder information

  • Ensure that your repair point person works in a paperless environment, so nothing can be written down

  • Automatically delete your information from our database after you are charged for the repair

If that isn’t enough to set you at ease, know that we use the same system as the actual credit card companies to secure your data.
